What is Learning Organization?
A learning organization is one that continuously expands its capacity to create the results it truly wants, by treating learning as a core, ongoing activity rather than a one-off training event. Peter Senge popularized the term through five disciplines: personal mastery, mental models, shared vision, team learning, and systems thinking.
What distinguishes a learning organization is that these disciplines reinforce one another. Teams practicing systems thinking together surface mental models faster, and a genuine shared vision makes personal mastery feel purposeful rather than self-serving, which is why Senge treated systems thinking as the discipline that integrates the other four.
